Self-Diagnostic: Before & After Report

At the start of LABU2060, I faced communication challenges despite strong academic abilities in independent learning and critical thinking. Through lectures, peer practice, and leadership opportunities, I improved my ability to articulate ideas clearly and lead teams effectively. Professor May's guidance and regular practice helped bridge the gap between understanding and explanation. By semester's end, my communication and leadership skills had significantly improved, though I continue to work on further development. I’ve attached the detailed Before & After Self-Assessment below of this exciting process.

My Learning Journey

At the beginning of LABU2060, my SMART goals included:

Common competencies and transferable skills that concerned me included communicative competency, audience awareness, and the effective use of evidence. These were areas I identified as crucial for professional success but where I lacked confidence and consistency.

Phase I: Job-Seeking

Application of Competencies and Skills

  1. Communicative Competency: Verbal and non-verbal strategies, including eye contact and purposeful gestures, were crucial for presenting a confident and engaging persona during mock interviews. Using the STAR framework, I structured responses to highlight key achievements and skills effectively.
